I get through all the steps to setup my Gmail. It finds the settings and everything, but when I got to retrieve mail, it delays then keeps asking me to re-enter my password. and Ideas? I've tried entering @gmail.com in the user name, but I still get nothing.
I haven't tried to setup GMail in Outlook on my Q, however, you can use IE on the Q and just hit GMail.com and read messages. It does User-Agent checking and gives you a WAP friendly interface. I'll poke around on the web and see if I can't find anything about Gmail on Outlook with the Q.
Ok. figured it out. You Need to go into your Gmail account and activate pop3 mail. The auto set up on the Q works fine. NOw I can pull my Gmail from the homepage.
I had the same problem on my pc and the moto q. On your out going port settings you need to set your server like this: mail.k2designinc.com:26
Because the default port is normally 25.
I found this forum originally because I was looking for how to setup Gmail on my Q. I got it working for 2 days, then it stopped and would just repeatedly ask me for my password. I tried all the different techniques listed on this site, and had my Gmail account configured right via the actual webpage, I've just accepted the fact that Gmail's POP and IMAP just doesn't play well with the Q.
Instead, I created an email account with AIM (mail.aim.com), since it's 2GB's free and they offer free POP/IMAP. I set that up on my Q, and it's worked flawlessly for the past 3 days now. So I just setup Gmail to forward my email to my new AIM account.
I have had my Q for 6 months and had successfully set up my incoming POP3 with Outlook - not outlook express - however as of last night I no longer am able to receive any emails on my Q. I am getting emails at my office but no longer able to on my Q. My Q connect logs in - goes thru the motions of sending and recieving but no emails. WTF did I do?
Whenever a POP client downloads messages, it normally deletes them from the server after downloading them. So when you download an email message using Outlook, Outlook will delete it from the POP server after it is finished. Once a message is deleted from the server it will be deleted from the Q the next time it checks for messages.
In other words, the only email you will see on your Q is email that has not already been downloaded somewhere else.
