Premium Messaging to this mobile number has been blocked. -what is this?

Fiirst off,my family down here are all on Verizon.I'm the only one with the smartphone and data plan.As you vzw peeps know, you get unlimited IN network messages.I also have the 50 OUT network message plan for $5 a month. Most of my messaging is to an from my sister and bro-in-law.

Just recently she has received the following message when she sent me an MMS message. ""Premium Messaging to this mobile number has been blocked.Only the account owner may request a change to this setting with his/her wireless service""

Later on she'll send it again and I'll get the pix message she tried sending earlier. This has happend at least 5 or 6 times in the past few days.I havn't changed anything in my service.Nor has she. They all have a pix/flix messaging plan as do I as stated above.

She also was sending a text message and at several different times got a return error message ""Message sent as plain text.Does not support Enhanced Messaging Service"" very similar but not exact.I know what that means and she wasn't putting graphics in them nor was she going over 160 characters. It was a "Whatcha up to" type of message.

I know.Someone would have to go into the Veri$on forum or see it while it was still new on the front page.So unless someone looks, they wont see it......and it's a nagging problem.I've never even heard of that problem till last week. That was the first time it ever happened.Something new vzw has introduced maybe.

Question

Have you checked your account on-line to see if the "Block Premium SMS" box is checked? You'll find it at My Service, Features, Messaging.

I happened to stumble on it after reading your post, and thought it might be worth a shot....

Good Luck
Swanny

What is premium sms? Is it not the same as EMS messaging which don't work on pda phones? I still get the messages she sends me ..that gave her the error messages in return ..but only when and after she has tried to resend it 2 or 3 times in a row.I'll have to check my account somehow. No PC access to the internet.

Thanks swann

Ok ..after digging around forever,I found some very useful info.Premium Messaging are those numbers you see in ads in magazines and online. They generally have 4 - 6 digit numbers for the return cell number.and are for things such as ringtones , wallpapers , RSS feeds ..and some file / video downloads. You send a message to said 4 - 6 digit number with a code number. And either get a return msg for a confirmation or whatever you requested to download.

So after all this I figured that some website or business is trying to send these messages to her phone.Probably because someone else entered the wrong phone number as their own or someone is trying to spam her.

Well now that's solved and I dont gotta bug anyone about it...

.She didn't get specific. She just started getting these within the last week. They were getting mixed between messages she sent to me and ones she sent to my bro-in-law.So she thought it was something my phone was doing.I wasn't doubting it , with all the other error msgs friends of mine have received after I bought this phone. Cell phones and pda phone communications dont mix too well.especially with Veri$on.Thanks again peeps.
